Who can become a Tutor?

Anyone 18 years of age or older who is interested in teaching an adult to read or write in south Pinellas County area can be a tutor. Ideally, you are available at least once a week for two hours and can make a one year commitment to volunteering with us.

Is there a training?

Yes. About once a quarter we host a training for new tutors. At the training, we introduce you to our nonprofit and our mission. We also provide instruction in Basic Literacy, tips for working with adults, lesson planning, and introduce you to the materials used with our adults learners. Coffee, drinks, and a light lunch will be provided.

What are the next steps?

Please complete and submit the form below. A message to confirm that your form has been submitted will pop up but you will not receive an auto-reply or email. However, please be assured that after submitting the form you will be added to our “future tutors” email list and we will contact you when the next training is scheduled. Thank you!
